With the introduction of a playoff in collegiate football FBS the team who wins the national championship is now legitimate... or are they? Ever since 1869 when the first version of football was played between Rutgers and Princeton there has been controversy around who the national champion is leading many to state that a national championship in collegiate football D-1A/FBS is "mythical". The new College Football Playoff allows four teams to compete for a national championship but there will no doubt still be controversy around who gets to participate (TCU and Baylor were snubbed of participation in the playoff while Ohio State got selected and ended up winning the championship).
I have compiled maps showing the various ways schools have been selected as national champions in football ranging from the first games in 1869 to 2014.

This map goes over the process of digitizing from starting with aerial imagery to making it 3D.The area being digitized is Phoenix Park located in Eau Claire, WI. Phoenix Park used to be a brown site for toxic waste but it was converted to a public park and now hosts numerous concerts, weddings, and other outdoor activities.

Chippewa Valley December 1st, 2014
This is a map of landsat 8 OLI imagery and surface temperature. The band combination for the imagery is 7,5,3 and the thermal band used is band 11. I chose band 11 because of the amount of contrast in temperature across the study area. I created a model to convert the band 11 data to degrees Fahrenheit. A copy of the model is available for download with the link below (along with a band 10 model).

Colts Drum and Bugle Corps 2014 tour route
The Colts drum and bugle corps is based out of Dubuque, IA and competes in the DCI circuit. With seven championships the Cavaliers are one of the premier drum corps in DCI. This map is just one layer from my 2014 Drum Corps International map. This map was requested by a friend who is a member of the Colts and will be marching her age out in 2015.
